Calling the festival a “path-breaking step,” Rymbui said, “This is the first stage of a larger vision. Once we succeed, it will empower us to do more in the years to come.”* He added that the festival is being organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) with support from the Government of India. The three-day event will feature a diverse lineup of films, including entries from across India, the Northeast, and international productions. Screenings will take place at the State Convention Centre, positioning Shillong as a growing hub for cinematic expression.

Explaining the objective behind the initiative, Rymbui noted that Meghalaya’s unique culture, scenic landscapes, and rich heritage make it an ideal destination for filmmaking. “Our state is blessed with unique geography and culture. This festival will attract filmmakers from across the world and open new opportunities for our youth,”he said.
