Two BJP ticket aspirants for the Dispur constituency, sitting MLA Atul Bora and Jayanta Das, have publicly opposed the party’s decision to nominate Pradyut Bordoloi for the seat. Bora, a six-time MLA, expressed his disappointment, stating that he felt betrayed due to his long-standing representation of the constituency since 1985 and questioning the candidate selection process. He criticized the party for importing candidates and alleged that Bordoloi’s political moves were opportunistic, voicing concerns for his constituents from Margherita and Nagaon. Das echoed these sentiments, accusing Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of sidelining loyal party members in favor of corrupt leaders from Congress, specifically targeting Bordoloi’s recent affiliation with the BJP. He threatened to establish a new party with other discontented BJP workers. Additionally, BJP MLA Nihar Ranjan Das resigned after being denied a ticket, stating that his contributions to the party were unrecognized and he felt deprived of rightful acknowledgment.
