The Mumbai Crime Branch has significantly intensified its investigation into a series of menacing extortion demands targeting Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, officially issuing a Look Out Circular (LOC) for Harichandra, also known as “Harry Boxer.” A suspected key associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang believed to be operating from Canada, Boxer allegedly sent multiple threatening voice notes and made international calls to Singh’s manager, Vijay Subramanian, demanding a staggering ₹20 crore. The threats, which first surfaced in early February 2026, were reportedly delivered via a United States-registered phone number and WhatsApp, with the caller warning that non-compliance would lead to consequences that “the next seven generations” would remember. In a chilling audio clip, the sender explicitly warned the actor and filmmaker Rohit Shetty to “get in line,” while claiming responsibility for recent shooting incidents in Portugal and outside Shetty’s own Juhu bungalow on January 31.
Following the verification of the voice notes by police departments in Punjab and Haryana, the Mumbai Cyber Police registered a formal FIR on February 17, 2026, invoking stringent sections of the law. Investigators believe these threats are part of a coordinated intimidation campaign by the Bishnoi network to target high-profile figures within the film industry for massive payouts. The messages notably threatened to target Singh’s personal staff and their families if the actor continued to ignore the gang’s demands or “backed out” of alleged prior commitments. In response to the escalating risk, security around Ranveer Singh’s residence has been heavily fortified with armed guards, and the actor has been advised to exercise extreme caution during his travels for upcoming film projects, including his highly anticipated release Dhurandhar. As the Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) and the Crime Branch work alongside international agencies to trace the digital footprints of the Canada-based suspect, the case underscores a worrying trend of cross-border syndicates increasingly targeting India’s entertainment elite.
