Entrepreneurship Vital for Sectoral Development: Conrad

PRIME Meghalaya organized an event at Ward’s Lake, Shillong, celebrating the selection of the Top 75 Startups through the Chief Minister’s E-Championship Challenge 6.0, marking the beginning of their incubation journey. The program also celebrated the graduation of 75 Startups from Cohort 5 for their remarkable achievements and commitment.

Meghalaya’s Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma, addressed the attendees, highlighting the transformative potential of entrepreneurship for both the state and country. He expressed his ongoing belief in entrepreneurship’s power, stating that he has often found himself at a loss for words while engaging with entrepreneurs. Sangma pointed out that a few years ago, Meghalaya lacked an entrepreneurial ecosystem, but the Government of India has now recognized the state’s initiatives through various awards.

Reflecting on his own journey as a struggling entrepreneur before entering politics, the Chief Minister conveyed his ability to empathize with the challenges faced by new entrepreneurs. He committed to providing robust support throughout their entrepreneurial journeys, while also acknowledging that entrepreneurship entails significant challenges. He emphasized that PRIME has been established to assist budding entrepreneurs navigate these difficulties.

Furthermore, Sangma stressed the essential role of entrepreneurship in advancing economic agendas and infrastructural development, linking these state initiatives to supportive policies for entrepreneurs. He praised the Chief Minister’s E-Championship Challenge as a means to recognize outstanding entrepreneurs and startups, as large industry figures serve as motivational figures to enhance the entrepreneurial culture.

Sangma underlined the necessity of instilling an entrepreneurial mindset in youth from a young age, while encouraging entrepreneurs to persevere despite failures. The event culminated with the launch of the PRIME Entrepreneur Catalogue, the awarding of top performers in various incubation categories, and the felicitation of graduates from Cohort 5 and Cohort 6.
