Twenty-five youth representatives from Meghalaya will participate in the Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue 2026, which is a key component of the 29th National Youth Festival 2026, to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from January 9 to 12, 2026. The youths were chosen from nearly 50 lakh entries nationwide, showcasing the State’s talent, aspirations, and leadership potential. The selected youths will also have the opportunity to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 11, 2026, marking a defining and inspirational milestone in their leadership journey. Addressing the media, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, D.D. Shira, stated that the core themes of Viksit Bharat include Youth and Democracy, Governance in a Developed India, and Women-led Democracy as a cornerstone of Viksit Bharat, among other important focus areas. He also outlined the itinerary, from the inaugural day’s programme to the closing day of the event.
Speaking to the media, Bobby Wahlang said Meghalaya takes great pride in the selection of two young innovators under Viksit Bharat – Design for Bharat, an open innovation initiative that encourages technical institutions across the country to develop solutions for a developed India. He informed that the selected innovators, Nishant Kumar Singh and Necharika Singh, students at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Shillong, have developed a Smart Braille Watch, an assistive wearable device designed to help visually impaired persons access information through touch. Both innovators are currently in New Delhi, preparing to present their innovation at the national level in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and distinguished experts.
