Meghalaya Governor Extends Christmas Greetings; Cm Meets Citizens At Tura Market

Meghalaya Governor C.H. Vijayashankar on Tuesday visited the Cathedral Church at Laitumkhrah in Shillong to extend Christmas greetings to the people of the state. During the visit, the church choir presented Christmas hymns and songs. Catholic Association of Shillong, Barnabas Nangbah thanked the Governor for visiting the church during Christmas and for extending his best wishes to the entire Christian community of Meghalaya.” Nangbah said that the Governor praised the church and appreciated the choir members for their performance. The Cathedral Church, which often receives visits from dignitaries and ambassadors, made special arrangements for the Governor’s Christmas visit.


On Sunday, a team from the Assam Regimental Centre carol team, along with Commandant and Officers, presented carols at Lok Bhavan, Shillong in presence of the Governor, signifying peace and harmony on the joyous occasion of Christmas. Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma drove to the Tura market on Tuesday afternoon to extend Christmas greetings to the people. Sangma also met several specially-abled persons and interacted with them. Sources said that the chief minister accompanied a person, who had requested a pair of shoes, to a shop and purchased them. Another woman had requested a sweater for her daughter and shoes for herself, which the Chief Minister also arranged for.
