Meghalaya police arrested four Bangladeshi nationals for illegal entry into India via the Dawki sector on December 17-18. The arrests occurred during a routine check at Amlarem market junction when officers intercepted a speeding tourist vehicle which was headed to Assam. The driver, Chemphang Rasmut, attempted to evade the police but was caught. Upon verification, it was discovered that the vehicle contained four undocumented Bangladeshi nationals. The police seized the vehicle and arrested the driver, registering a case under the Foreigners Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with the accused presented in court.

In a separate incident, alleged Bangladeshi miscreants crossed the border and robbed residents of Umniuh Tmar village near the India-Bangladesh border, taking three mobile phones, earphones, and a tablet. The robbery occurred within a BSF-guarded area, raising concerns over security and surveillance gaps. The robbers obstructed the road with debris, forcing a vehicle with five occupants to stop before conducting the theft. Pynursla police were notified, confirmed the robbery, and launched an investigation into the incident.
