Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma highlighted a significant shift in public expectations during the foundation-laying ceremony for Rymbai Government Higher Secondary School, where he noted the transition from demands for basic amenities to aspirations for enhanced educational facilities and improved infrastructure. This change reflects higher living standards and progress in Meghalaya. Sangma recalled his initial visits in 2020, remarking on previous challenges like poor road conditions and stalled water supply, and expressed satisfaction with recent improvements. He acknowledged ongoing challenges such as financial constraints and insufficient departmental capacity while assuring that community proposals regarding infrastructure upgrades and new academic streams would be thoroughly evaluated.

Additionally, Sangma chaired a review meeting discussing the implementation of various schemes by the PHE Electrical Sub-Division, focusing on coverage of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) and the Rymbai Greater Water Supply Scheme. Officials reported on challenges faced and progress made, emphasizing the necessity for a PHE Division in East Jaintia Hills to enhance monitoring and execution of schemes. The Chief Minister called for the immediate provision of FHTCs to anganwadi centers and schools and stressed the importance of community engagement and the protection of water sources amidst development works to ensure the success of PHE schemes.
