The Regional Artificial Intelligence (AI) Impact Conference 2025 was held in Shillong, focusing on the themes of people, planet, and progress ahead of the India AI Impact Summit in February 2026. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav highlighted the government’s commitment to AI, with Rs 10,300 crore allocated and over 38,000 GPUs onboarded. A total of 570 data and AI labs have been established, with plans for further labs in Shillong and Tura. The aim is to train one million individuals in AI skills to enhance future employability. Organized by the Government of Meghalaya and the India-AI Mission, the conference gathered officials, technology leaders, and experts to explore AI’s transformative potential. Chief Minister Conrad Sangma emphasized the government’s data-driven decision-making and the application of AI in projects like the Mothers app and mapping water springs and forest coverage.
