India’s benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, extended losses for the second straight session on Friday, October 31, even as both logged their strongest monthly gains since March, marking a seven-month high. The Sensex slipped 465.75 points, or 0.55%, to 83,938.71, while the Nifty 50 declined 155.75 points, or 0.60%, to 25,722 amid weak global cues, profit booking, and mixed corporate results.

Ajit Mishra of Religare Broking said markets remained subdued as persistent profit booking in heavyweight sectors dragged indices lower. All major sectoral indices ended in the red, with metals, financials, and pharma leading declines, while global caution following the U.S. Fed’s hawkish stance and limited FII inflows dampened sentiment.
