Medanta’s 3-minute self-breast exam initiative signals growth in preventive healthcare sector

Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, ranked India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six consecutive years, has launched an educational video promoting a quick, three-minute self-breast examination aimed at early detection of breast cancer. The move is part of Medanta’s broader “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign, highlighting the growing economic potential of preventive healthcare in India.

The video features Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta, demonstrating a three-step procedure that should be performed monthly, ideally 2–3 days after menstruation. The self-exam involves examining the breast and armpit using light pressure in circular and up-and-down motions while checking for lumps, changes in skin texture, or nipple deformities. “Early detection improves treatment outcomes and empowers women to take charge of their health,” Dr. Kaur said. The initiative has generated a noticeable market response. Local clinics report increasing footfalls for preventive health screenings, while pharmacies and wellness centers are actively running awareness campaigns and health packages. This trend indicates rising consumer interest in proactive healthcare, presenting significant growth opportunities for regional healthcare providers.

With breast cancer being the most common cancer among Indian women, Medanta’s campaign underscores the commercial and social value of awareness-driven preventive healthcare solutions, highlighting a sector poised for sustained expansion across urban centers.
