Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted that focused government schemes and public-private partnerships are playing a vital role in transforming India’s industrial sectors, especially in green technology and electric mobility. Responding to a post on X by Union Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy, PM Modi emphasized that India is reshaping its industrial framework with a strong emphasis on electric mobility, sustainable technology, and self-reliant manufacturing.

Kumaraswamy stated that under the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and PM Modi’s leadership, the Ministry of Heavy Industries is fostering a dynamic, self-sufficient ecosystem aligned with the goals of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. He added that India is promoting global competitiveness in sectors like electric mobility, advanced manufacturing, and R&D-led innovation, while also reducing dependency on imports.

The minister cited initiatives like the PLI schemes, FAME, SMPEC, and e-bus deployment as key contributors to the growth of heavy industries. Currently, there are 29,277 EV charging stations across India, and ₹2,000 crore has been allocated under the PM E-DRIVE scheme to expand public charging infrastructure. Under the FAME initiative, nearly 18.85 lakh EVs have been supported so far.
