In response to claims of anomalies in the employment process carried out by the Office of the CGCA in Shillong, the Meghalaya police have opened an investigation. According to them, the inquiry was started after an internal review and formal correspondence with the CGCA and the SSC. According to the officials, a candidate used falsified documents to obtain a government job in April. They said that a police report had been filed in this regard, which prompted an inquiry.
Five police officers stationed at the Sohra Police Station in the East Khasi Hills area, including a sub-inspector and four constables, were suspended earlier for allegedly abusing a detainee and making him drink water from a toilet. This unsettling occurrence had previously caused indignation throughout Meghalaya. The suspension comes after an initial investigation into a complaint filed on July 7 by the mother of the inmate, who claimed that her son had suffered physical abuse and cruel treatment while in police custody.
