Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based Ohmium International to jointly develop scalable, integrated Green Hydrogen-based power solutions. The partnership aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and is a major step toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2070 and energy independence by 2047.
The collaboration merges Ohmium’s expertise in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers with Toyota’s proven fuel cell technology. Together, the companies aim to create microgrid solutions for high-demand sectors such as data centers, remote locations, and industrial applications. TKM will provide technical and integration support while Ohmium will lead on system design and performance evaluation. The initiative reinforces the ‘Make in India’ vision and Toyota’s long-standing clean energy roadmap in India.
A key commercial hub in Upper Assam, the hydrogen push is gaining attention. The city’s tea, oil, and logistics sectors could significantly benefit from decentralized hydrogen energy systems, especially for reducing diesel dependency and carbon emissions. Local industry leaders view this development as an opportunity to modernize infrastructure and align with national sustainability targets.
