Contractor refuses to hand over NEHU work for payment dispute

The construction of NEHU Gate No. 1, though yet to be inaugurated, has incurred a total expenditure of Rs 1 crore. Initially tendered at around Rs 85 lakh, the project experienced delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, resulting in increased costs.

Following the death of the original contractor, his son- now overseeing the work has refused to hand over the gate to the university authorities until the full payment is settled.

Recently, a visiting team from the Ministry assured the university that Rs 1 crore would be sanctioned for the project.
