Honda India Foundation (HIF) successfully concluded its Project Buniyaad initiative in Shillong, Meghalaya, with a valedictory ceremony held at Don Bosco Technical School, Laitumkhrah. The event was graced by Shri Ramkumar Sathurappan, IAS, Executive Director of the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society, who attended as the chief guest.
The ceremony celebrated the completion of the training program, where 30 beneficiaries were awarded job letters, marking the beginning of new employment opportunities in the hospitality industry. Launched in December 2024, Project Buniyaad aimed to provide skill development for youth from marginalized communities. The program is a collaboration between HIF and the Visan Foundation, offering specialized training in Hospitality Management, followed by certification from the Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council.
Project Buniyaad’s impact is evident across India, having trained and placed over 1500 youth in key regions, including Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland. In Shillong, the demand for skilled professionals in the hospitality sector is growing, driven by the region’s expanding tourism industry. With its focus on local needs, the project plays a vital role in bridging the skills gap, offering both individual empowerment and contributing to Shillong’s socio-economic development.
