Meghalaya completes ₹85.08 crore scholarship distribution for ST students

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday announced the release of the final installment of ₹85.08 crore under the Post Matric Scholarship scheme for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students. The amount will be credited to students’ accounts within 1-2 days.

The disbursement, part of the “Umbrella Scheme of Post Matric Scholarship for ST Students,” will benefit 27,327 students for the 2023-24 academic session. This marks the completion of the phased scholarship distribution that began last June.

According to Sangma, the first installment of ₹42.32 crore was released on June 24, 2024, benefiting 17,364 students, followed by a second installment of ₹66.67 crore on November 20, 2024, covering 32,064 students.

With a total of 76,755 applicants, the Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to streamlining and expediting the scholarship process to ensure timely financial aid for students in the future.
