Vodafone Idea (Vi) has expanded its postpaid international roaming offerings by introducing a baggage protection service in collaboration with US-based Blue Ribbon Bags. The move comes at a time when international travel is surging post-pandemic, with baggage mishandling becoming a major concern. Vi postpaid customers can now claim compensation of ₹19,800 per bag if their luggage is lost or delayed beyond 96 hours, for an additional ₹99.
According to a 2024 SITA report, over 36 million bags were mishandled globally, highlighting the need for enhanced travel security. Vi’s latest initiative aligns with its strategy of offering value-added services beyond telecom connectivity, addressing key travel concerns for Indian consumers. The service can be activated alongside international roaming packs, requiring users to register with Blue Ribbon Bags before departure and report any baggage issues within 24 hours of landing. If baggage is not recovered within four days, compensation is processed with no further queries.
Vi’s International Roaming packs also include unlimited data and calls across 29 countries, incoming call benefits in 122+ nations, and 24/7 WhatsApp support, ensuring seamless connectivity for global travelers.
