Police in East Garo Hills have discovered a sizable stash of weapons and ammunition, which has sparked worries about possible ties to previous insurgent operations in the area. Authorities discovered 428 rounds of suspected AK ammo, two live mortar shells, and a pistol built in the nation during the retrieval, which happened close to Chibilbang village. The operation was launched in response to reliable intelligence.
Beginning at roughly 10 p.m., a Williamnagar special operations team searched the jungle region under the jurisdiction of Rongjeng Police Station. The squad was able to successfully unearth the buried weapons and ammo next to a big tree by around one in the morning on January 30. According to SA Rynjah, the superintendent of police for East Garo Hills, the recovered materials might be connected to the now-defunct Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA), which was active in the region in the past. The origins and intended purpose of the cache are still being investigated.
