Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), in collaboration with the Government of Mizoram and Zote Toyota, has launched its 67th Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) and the STAR Scholarship Initiative at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Aizawl. This initiative is a strategic step in enhancing skill development and employability, especially in rural areas, while supporting India’s “Skill India” and “Make in India” missions.
T-TEP will provide hands-on technical training in Mechanic Motor Vehicle and Diesel Mechanic trades, ensuring that students are equipped with the skills necessary to meet the demands of the evolving automotive sector. The STAR Scholarship Program, offering financial aid of up to ₹51,000 per year, will make technical education more accessible to economically disadvantaged students.
In Shillong, the demand for skilled automotive technicians is rising due to an increase in vehicle ownership and expanding service requirements. The T-TEP program aligns well with the region’s growing automotive sector, as it will help address the local need for qualified professionals. Graduates from the program will be able to seize opportunities in the expanding market, contributing to Shillong’s long-term economic growth.
