Courtyard by Marriott Shillong sets holiday tone with festive cake mixing and tree lighting

Courtyard by Marriott Shillong marked the start of the holiday season with the grand Second Edition of its Cake Mixing and Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 8, 2024. The festive evening brought together Shillong’s community, dignitaries, and hotel patrons for a celebration of unity and holiday spirit. The venue transformed into a winter wonderland, featuring a majestic Christmas tree adorned with lights symbolizing the warmth of the season. Esteemed guests, including East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Smt.

Rosette Kurbah, Archbishop Victor Lyngdoh, and MDC BajopPyngrope, participated in the festivities. The event’s centerpiece was the Cake Mixing Ceremony, where participants mixed dried fruits, nuts, and spirits—a tradition symbolizing togetherness. The Tree Lighting Ceremony followed at the Poolside, as attendees joined a lively countdown, unveiling a luminous Christmas tree accompanied by carol singing.

In Shillong, the event spotlighted the city’s vibrant community spirit and festive enthusiasm. Local patrons and visitors embraced the holiday season with curated offerings from the Shillong Baking Company, including handcrafted Christmas hampers, innovative seasonal delicacies, and warm beverages like mulled wine. Live performances by Shillong’s popular band Colours and a saxophone recital enhanced the magical atmosphere.
