Celebrating National Education Day, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) emphasized its dedication to youth empowerment through skill development initiatives, particularly benefiting economically underprivileged youth across Karnataka and India. TKM’s programs, including the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), have trained over 1,10,000 young people, fostering industry-ready skills and self-reliance, thus supporting India’s economic and industrial growth.
A cornerstone of TKM’s mission, TTTI provides a three-year, free residential training in automobile manufacturing. Recently expanded to accommodate 1,200 students, including 600 women, TTTI combines hands-on technical training with personal development. Another initiative, the Toyota Kaushalya Program, offers a “Learn and Earn” model for rural Karnataka youth, blending academic and on-the-job learning. TKM’s collaboration with 60 industrial training centers nationwide through the Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP) has also impacted over 13,000 students, equipping them with practical skills through Toyota dealership internships.
In Shillong , these initiatives align with the region’s demand for skilled professionals, as automotive technology and industry practices advance. With limited training facilities in the Northeast, TKM’s programs open doors for youth from smaller cities like Shillong, where employability in technical fields remains challenging, thus bolstering local economies and increasing job prospects. G. Shankara, Executive VP of TKM, noted, “Our initiatives align with the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, offering practical training to bridge educational and industry needs, contributing to a developed and progressive India.” Through extensive partnerships and skill-building programs, TKM continues to play a crucial role in shaping India’s skilled workforce.
