In Meghalaya Diageo India and BharatCares partner to launch Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) projects

Diageo India, in partnership with BharatCares, has launched significant Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) projects at Seng Khasi Upper Primary School and Soso Tham Memorial School in Meghalaya. The initiative aims to enhance the educational environment for over 120 students and staff by installing advanced RO plants, modernized drinking water stations, and upgraded sanitation facilities.

At Seng Khasi, the project includes a new RO plant and renovations to the drinking water station, while Soso Tham will benefit from a new classroom, separate toilets, and a handwashing station. Navdeep Singh Mehram of Diageo India highlighted the company’s commitment to water conservation under its Society 2030 ESG action plan.

Manoviraj Singh from CSRBOX Foundation emphasized the improvements to school infrastructure and student access to essential facilities.As Shillong’s educational sector grows, the need for improved WASH facilities becomes increasingly critical. The city’s expanding student population underscores the importance of modern infrastructure, aligning with Shillong’s broader development and health improvement objectives.
