SBI General Insurance and Maruti Suzuki Insurance Broking have launched an insurance awareness camp in Nongpo, Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya. The initiative aims to educate local residents about the critical importance of insurance in safeguarding against unforeseen events, including medical emergencies, property damage, and other financial risks.
The awareness camp, which included a free vehicle and eye check-up for participants, follows a previous session at St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong. Both programs are part of a wider effort to promote financial literacy and encourage insurance adoption in the state. At the Shillong event, over 62 students were educated on insurance fundamentals, including the differences between life and non-life insurance, with a focus on health, motor, home, and fire coverage.
An SBI General Insurance spokesperson commented, “As the leading insurer in Meghalaya, our commitment is to raise awareness and increase insurance penetration. Through our partnership with Maruti Suzuki Insurance Broking, we aim to empower individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions.”With 95% of India’s population still uninsured, SBI General and Maruti Suzuki Insurance Broking are gearing up for future initiatives, including collaborations with government bodies and NGOs, to enhance insurance awareness and coverage in the region.
