Telecom giant Vi has launched the “Artisans of India” initiative. This effort, in collaboration with NGOs, spotlights the craftsmanship of over 60 local artisans at Vi Stores across 12 states, including Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Gujarat. The initiative features hand-painted bags, chikankari embroidery, and decorated diyas, among other traditional crafts.

Vi’s strategic partnerships with NGOs such as Universal Smile and the Astha Foundation aim to uplift marginalized communities. For instance, Kolkata’s South City store showcased hand-painted bags by Universal Smile, with proceeds supporting an orphanage. Meanwhile, in Gujarat, specially-abled children from the Astha Foundation displayed intricately decorated diyas.

Shillong known for its appreciation of traditional crafts, stands to benefit from Vi’s initiative. By integrating local artisans into this platform, Vi not only enhances their visibility but also meets the growing demand for authentic, handcrafted products in the region.
