Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin, a premium gin from Meghalaya, has achieved the highest honour at the Global Spirits Masters competition, outperforming 110 brands from 55 countries. This accolade was awarded during the London Wine Fair on May 21, 2024, spotlighting the distinctive essence of Northeast India in the global spirits arena.
Produced using rainwater, Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin is the result of a collaboration between the company’s master distiller and a Dutch counterpart. The gin features a blend of 12 indigenous botanicals from Northeast India, including Kaji Nemu from Assam, Khasi Mandarin from Meghalaya, smoked tea from Manipur, cardamom from Sikkim, and juniper from the eastern Himalayas. This unique combination creates a sipping gin that marries local authenticity with international appeal.
Presently available in Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh, Cherrapunji Eastern Craft Gin is preparing for its debut in northern India. Concurrently, the company is ramping up its export strategy, with the inaugural European shipment scheduled for next month.
