In a groundbreaking move aimed at enhancing voter accessibility and participation, Rapido, India’s leading commute app, has teamed up with the Meghalaya State Election Commission to introduce the “Sawaari Zimmedari Ki” initiative. This pioneering campaign is set to redefine the voter transport landscape during the Indian General Elections 2024, particularly in the vibrant city of Shillong.
Scheduled for April 19th, the initiative will see Rapido offering complimentary bike taxi rides to voters across Shillong, enabling them to reach their polling stations hassle-free. Through the use of the promotional code “VOTENOW” on the Rapido app, citizens can avail themselves of these free rides on Election Day, ensuring that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right without financial barriers.
Expressing the company’s unwavering commitment to fostering civic engagement, Rapido’s Co-founder, Pavan Guntupalli, emphasized the significance of this initiative in bolstering the democratic process. Guntupalli stated, “Our aim is to facilitate a seamless voting experience for every citizen of Shillong during the Indian General Election 2024. By offering complimentary rides, we are not just providing transportation; we are championing democracy in action.”
