Shillong: In the Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh, a person has been detained on suspicion of hiding his religious identity and assuming the name of a sub inspector in order to get married and pay a sizable dowry.
According to the police, they got a complaint alleging that Tabrez wanted to get married for dowry and pretended to be an Aryan while claiming to be a sub inspector with the UP police.On Tuesday, he was taken into judicial custody after being arrested.
When Tabrez’s wig fell off due to an unintentional shove during the wedding ceremony, the situation became apparent.
His Aadhar card was cancelled, proving that he was Tabrez.
“Tabrez allegedly deceived the girl into a relationship under false claims,” Ahirauli Bazaar Station officer Manoj Verma stated. As their love developed, the girl ultimately told her family that she was getting married to Aryan. The family approved the marriage despite their misgivings because of Aryan’s alleged position and government employment. February 26 was designated as the wedding date.
Tabrez was taken into custody, according to Police Circle Officer Kasia Kundan Singh, while his brother Javed and Sagir Ali—who is also an accused party in the case—are still at large.
