Shillong: The revised Draft Power Policy 2024 received approval from the state cabinet on Monday.
Abu Taher Mondal, the minister of electricity, stated: “Pumped storage facilities are a new addition to the power industry; they were not included in the prior program. Thus, it is now included in this updated policy.
In addition, the policy suggests creating a State Power Trading Company to manage power from renewable sources, perform power purchase agreements, and make short-term purchases on behalf of the State Distribution Utility (MePDCL). The goal of all of this is to return Meghalaya to a state with excess electricity within the next five years.
