SHILLONG: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) has voiced dissatisfaction with the new textbooks that the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) has presented for this academic year.
Concerns over the new textbooks will be brought up at a meeting between the East Khasi Hills section of MSSASA and Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma.
The grammar section of the English textbook is combined with the English reader, which makes it inadequate, according to W Kharkongor, president of MSSASA East Khasi Hills unit.
Our grammar texts were different. However, the core of the English language—grammar—is no longer emphasized in the new textbooks, according to Kharkongor.
He stated that older scientific and math textbooks are superior than those that are now recommended, according on complaints from educators and pupils.
He said they had been told the MBoSE would produce a textbook that would be on par with those recommended by the CBSE and ICSE.
However, we are dissatisfied with the inadequate textbooks. We’ve been informed that starting in 2025, schools will only be permitted to utilize the books that the MBoSE has approved,” Kharkongor stated.
He said that they’ve been getting complaints about the majority of the books being out of stock.
He stated unequivocally that pupils should not be held accountable for not obtaining the updated material.
Additionally, he requested that MBoSE make sure that the student body is the only one who gains from any changes made to the textbooks.
