Amazon has conquered new heights in customer service, quite literally, by delivering to the remote Maharishi Ashram in Galoji Village, nestled at a breathtaking altitude of 4,500 feet in the Indian Himalayas. Serving as a lifeline for the ashram’s meditation practitioners, Amazon’s innovative delivery network has transformed the landscape of remote accessibility.
Establishing a Delivery Service Partner station in March 2019 to cater to Uttarkashi and its surroundings, Amazon identified a unique opportunity to extend its services to the secluded ashram. Overcoming formidable challenges, including a 25-kilometer bike ride and a demanding 3-kilometer trek through rugged terrain, Amazon’s delivery associates ensure timely deliveries, defying the odds posed by the region’s inhospitable conditions.
Dr. Karuna Shankar Pande, Director of Amazon Logistics, praised the company’s commitment to customer obsession, highlighting the remarkable resilience of its delivery team in reaching even the most remote customers. The partnership with local Delivery Service Partner Rahul Kesar underscores Amazon’s dedication to empowering small and mid-sized businesses while expanding its reach across India.
