With 33.5 per cent Meghalaya has registered the third-highest dropout rate in India in Class 10. The dropout rate in Class 10 for the country stands at 20.6 per cent as of 2021-22 with Odisha being the worst performing state in this regard followed by Bihar which Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed the Lok Sabha on Monday. Actually the dropout rate in Class 10 was 49.9 per cent in Odisha and 42.1 per cent in Bihar as said by Pradhan in his written response. The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Ministry of Education, compiles board-wise examination results for Class 10. As per the Class 10 board exam results 2022-23, 1,89,90,809 students appeared for class tenth examination, of which 1,60,34,671 students were declared passed and 29,56,138 students failed to progress to the Class 11.  In fact during the year 2021, due to Covid-19 pandemic, no examination was held by most boards and students were promoted to the next level using alternative assessment criteria.

Today our country needs education so that people can run our country properly. Actually it is bad news as the dropout rate is so high. We need to do something for them so that students get interest in studies and get proper education. The most important thing to make our country educated is to give basic education to everyone and by it people will be educated so that they have a good future.
