BSF seized spectacles worth 50 lakh near Bangladesh border in Meghalaya

Troops of Meghalaya-based 193 Battalion of BSF conducted a special operation in the border areas of East Khasi Hill district and seized a huge quantity of spectacles worth over Rs 50 lakh. These glasses were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh.

During the operation, BSF troops were seen cautiously parking the overloaded vehicle in a narrow lane/track leading to the International Border. Upon inspection, the vehicle was loaded with suspected contraband items, particularly glasses. The driver and co-driver of the vehicle were arrested as they failed to give satisfactory answers and could not produce any valid documents related to the consignment of glasses.

The arrested persons and seized goods have been handed over to Dangar police station for further legal action.
