“The Mountain Whisper” opened its doors in Rynjah, showcasing its delicious flavors in the scenic hills of Shillong, creating an unforgettable experience for the locals. The Mountain Whisper restaurant launched with a special menu featuring Chef Joe’s favorite dishes, including hot bowl soup, chowmein, fried rice, chicken wings, garlic pork, and coffee. The event was a memorable experience with Shillong band “Retrosage” and a family-friendly spread that was affordable for guests. The event showcased the local taste and culture of the hill city.
In 2022, Faiz Khan embarked on a journey to his maternal roots in Shillong, where his family settled nearly a century ago, St Edmunds, where his grandad, Wing Cdr LC Dey, studied, and the Military Hospital where his mother, Sonali, was born, significantly impacted his life. In April, he returned and in November, he opened “The Mountain Whisper” for customers in Rynjah.
Faiz Khan, a first-time entrepreneur and restaurateur, launched The Mountain Whisper, a restaurant that merges his love for food, music, and fitness, with the support of city dignitaries. Faiz Khan asserted “We want our guests to savour the essence of Shillong’s unique and popular cuisines that have been an integral part of this place. Later, I hope to add a few signature dishes that have been handed down in the family.”
