A notorious inter-state “criminal” was arrested with a lot of arms and animal remains in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district on Friday, CM Conrad Sangma said. He added that it was a decisive blow to “forces of darkness targeting our state”.
His post on X read, “A notorious interstate criminal, who is entangled in a web of illegal activities that spanned from trafficking of arms and precious wildlife, as well as forgery of official documents, is arrested,”
Appreciating the state police, he said investigations are underway to unearth his crime and the network of criminals associated with him.
Ri-Bhoi SP Giri Prasad said the arrest was made based on the information provided by the army. “The arrested person is a resident of Mizoram. He was staying in the 9th-mile Baridua area on the Assam-Meghalaya border,” he added.
